Your first certificate. A whole new world.

The Private Pilot Certificate is the foundation of every flying goal that follows — and the freedom to fly on your own terms.

What It Allows You to Do

Fly as pilot in command.

A Private Pilot Certificate allows you to act as pilot in command of an aircraft, carry passengers, and fly for personal and recreational purposes — opening the door to cross-country trips, weekend flying and, for many pilots, the first step toward advanced ratings.

Who Training Is For

Private Pilot training is for anyone starting from zero flight experience, as well as pilots who began training elsewhere and want to continue with focused, personalized instruction toward the certificate.

Typical Training Progression

How training builds, step by step.

Ground Fundamentals

Airspace, regulations, weather, aircraft systems and the aeronautical knowledge that supports every flight.

Aircraft Familiarization

Preflight procedures, checklists and getting comfortable in and around the airplane.

Basic Aircraft Control

Straight-and-level flight, climbs, descents and turns — the building blocks of stick-and-rudder skill.

Takeoffs and Landings

Traffic pattern work and landing technique, repeated until it becomes second nature.

Maneuvers

Slow flight, stalls, steep turns and other Airman Certification Standards maneuvers.

Emergency Procedures

Practicing how to recognize and respond to abnormal and emergency situations.

Solo Preparation

Building the proficiency and judgment needed before flying solo.

Solo Flight

Flying the aircraft independently under your instructor’s supervision and endorsement.

Navigation

Pilotage, dead reckoning and using navigation tools to find your way point to point.

Cross-Country Training

Planning and flying longer flights to unfamiliar airports.

Night Training

Flight experience and currency requirements specific to operating after dark.

Checkride Preparation

Focused oral and flight preparation aligned to the Private Pilot Airman Certification Standards.

FAA minimum flight-hour requirements are not a promise of completion time. Actual training time varies based on training frequency, student proficiency, weather, aircraft availability, schedule consistency and individual learning progress.

We’ll be upfront with you throughout training about where you stand and what’s ahead — so there are no surprises on the way to your checkride.
